Photography - James Ravilious. RWA Bristol

More advantages to Bristol being European Green Capital include exhibitions at the RWA linked into the natural landscape in the local area: James Ravilious- Rural Life photography.

The photographs were all taken of rural life and landscapes in North Devon during the 1970s and 1980s, and on first view you'd think you were in the 1940s or 1950s, as they were taken on the brink of industrialised farming in the area. They are warm and beautifully composed.

RWA Bristol - Kate MccGwire

Natural materials, art and beauty, all here at the RWA exhibition in Bristol until September 10th.

Since studying Biology A level in the 80s and being fixated on the drawings in the Roberts text books, I'm always in awe of nature and forms. In this exhibition Kate MccGwire uses collected and preserved feathers to create beautiful sculptures. See for yourself...

City Gym Shorts - stitching with a free tutorial. Not visiting any gyms!

I've wanted to make these shorts for ages - usual story of 'Bought the fabric, project on hold'. The easy to follow tutorial is from the The Purl Bee site and the results are fab.

First up I made a small pair for my daughter: 'We could have them as bedtime shorts too.'

Next - a pair for me. Obviously I didn't need to go out and buy any fabric as my stash hardly noticed the removal of this flowery fabric.

I'd check out the #citygymshorts on Instagram to get inspiration from other makers of combos with fabric etc. Happy stitching.

A glut of rhubarb? Make rhubarb ketchup

Rhubarb is the best thing to have in your garden - it grows what ever the weather and without your attention. When you've had your fill of rhubarb crumble make this lush ketchup. Mine looked mucky but tastes delicious!

The recipe I used can be found here. Play around with the flavours - add some chilli to spice it up. So easy to make.

Spring Window - extension...

In February I took part in a fab community event called Window Wanderland and haven't been able to take the window decorations down as they look so lush!

With Easter and spring around the corner I've updated the window - what d'ya think?

Here's a movie to give you the full effect.
