Spring Window - extension...

In February I took part in a fab community event called Window Wanderland and haven't been able to take the window decorations down as they look so lush!

With Easter and spring around the corner I've updated the window - what d'ya think?

Paper and Card - making cards

I have a stack of lovely paper and card & need reminding to use it!

I made these Christmas cards last year:

          











And then I made some notelets - we do need to send more handwritten cards!

Window Wanderland – Bristol February

I recently took part in a brilliant community event in North Bristol called Window Wanderland, created by Lucy Reeves, the inspiration for this project. The aim of the project was to shine light on a dark February night, by decorating, illuminating, jazzing up your front window and getting the local community out to mingle and view the window creations. I loved the night – we built in a tea break at Boston Tea Party and I had a hot water bottle to cuddle up to to keep me warm. we meet old neighbours and new and it was a really busy socialbel evening. Some used as an opprotunity to raise funds for a local charity - see WW website for details. 

I spent time planning and working out what I wanted to do, made sure I kept out some Christmas lights and paced myself with all the intricate cutting that I’d set myself to do. I went for a woodland theme, with the characters of Red Riding Hood taking central stage.

More collage fun at Primary school

Circles - Eric Carle-like

I saw this project on Pinterest and knew that it would be a good way to use up some papers and bring some colour to a dark hallway.

You need:
- picture frame (mine was a 50x40 IKEA frame, cost £8)
- a range of coloured paper (made with poster paints)
- round cutter (sold in craft shops - you'll use it for loads of things)
- Mod Podge (glue)
- ruler and pencil (for marking things out)

Cut out circles from a range of coloured papers

Glue in place

Reminds me of Eric Carle's use of colours.

More collage - with Guides!

I was inspired by the collage work my Year 4s produced to run something similar with a Guide group, as I'd volunteered to run a craft session with them.

I created a range of papers using poster paints, gave them a few pieces of patterned crafting paper drew some fantasy houses, had them copied and we were off! 

As they finished their work we made a gallery so they could all appreciate the work. What I love is that they had the same materials, yet produced some varied work.

Primary work - Collage. Inspired by Emily Ketteringham

This week it was all about collage, using houses drawn by Emily Ketteringham, and pops of greens & blues, an old dictionary & craft paper.

Greek Theatre Masks!

Greek masks made from A4 paper, twirls of paper strips, extreme expressions (gotta make sure people at the back knew what you were feeling!), noses and wild beards!

Good to be back in the junior school one afternoon a week.

Busy Teaching!

You may have noticed that I've been blogging and creating less, as I've been teaching others to create! 

Since January I've been working with a group of Year 5 pupils for an afternoon, covering the PPA time with craft and art sessions. I have absolutely loved it, linking together my favourite things - teaching, creating and working with others.

Here's a selection of the things we've been doing, including slipper-making, stamping, printing, collage, painting, sticking, being inspired by artists, upcycling, displaying and mostly PLAYING!

I'm looking forward to working with some younger pupils next year - I'll post some snippets of their creations!
