Bird houses....

More bird obsessed creations...what to do with them?

I came across Claire's blog paintdropskeepfalling.wordpress.com and this project a while ago and made some pretty bird houses based on her idea. Claire created them as a way to use some beautiful paper and decorate her studio. Check out Claire's blog for inspiration & to look at her art work.

Wrapping paper from Paperchase

Additional paper is the sort used for card making - from my local craft shop Craft Works

Paper on right from Arnolfini gift shop

New home...on top of the wardrobes, looking gorgeous and stopping me from 'storing' things up there!
Pretty 'dustcatchers'!

As I looked at Claire's blog today to create the link I found that she has made some more..More birdhouses!

I also spotted this in Iota - you can get it in their online shop.

Plus....they sell these too, but not online. I want one...

Holidays projects have started....

Sal's birthday was in June, she'll be pleased that her birthday present is now ready. She choose the fabric so it makes it very personal.

I was attempting to make a bag like one I'd seen on this blog u-handbag

But ended up making one like this - with a flower brooch that can be taken off, worn else where or leant to a friend!
A nice shopper...ready for filling!

Can you spot the heavily disguised flower?

The all important key hook - you want them handy!

First workshop....the results are in. What d'ya think?

These felt collage pictures were created by some creative 9 year olds - they let me add the free stitching to their pictures.

Next time I'll teach them how to use the machine!

I'm inspired by their work and the careful compositions of the scenes. They have given me some ideas...watch this space.

to stick his tail on for the photo!

Exhibition...missed it, but still gives you something to think about..

Last year my mother told me about a museum in London called The Foundling Museum and about an exhibition called Threads of Feeling. Here's an article about it from The Independent.

The babies who were abandoned at Thomas Coram's foundling hospital were registered with the mother's anonymity secured. The mothers left an identifying token, with the view that she might come back for the child. She left buttons, ribbon or a swatch of fabric.

The exhibition made available some of these swatches of fabric & documents created as the child was handed over.

You can see lots of photos of the exhibition via google images.

They are touching and poignant.

Celebration Bunting...it worked!

So, we had a little party to celebrate being together for 20 years and each guest had to decorate a single white bunting flag (provided by me) and bring it along, or send it if they couldn't make it.

The idea was that I was going to sew it together during the party and put it up! But I got chatting etc so only just put it together today. Not sure where we're going to put it yet...but I'm really pleased with how it turned out! What a creative lot x
