I've wanted to make this for ages and the need arose! It comes from an Amy Butler book Little Stitches. Lots of fab projects in it - but I would change some of the fabric combos for my taste. I choose bright fabric for the outer fabric, including the vintage house fabric which I've used on other projects in the past.
I have lots of ideas for other fabric books to make and will post here soon. I'm off to make a different fabric book now, well not right now as I'm going out to the theatre to see The Little Mermaid', which I will share with you when finished.
Take care
Alli

Quilting success! It's finished!
I'm pleased to announce that having spent half a day on the sewing machine and some hours hand sewing, my daughter's quilt is finished! What a labour of love it was - 9 months from idea to completion and some new skills picked up on the way including:
- image transfer
- more adventurous embroidery
- quilting by machine!

Memory quilt progress.
In January I posted about a new quilt project here.
I got waylaid by image transfer and making decisions about the fabric, but we chose a Moda Layer Cake of fabric, Little Apples mix by Aneela Hoey which I bought from Poppy Patchwork.
Will post pics when finished....

My daughter decided on the images she wanted on the quilt and I stitched the fabric from old clothes onto the panels of fabric - not very expertly!
Next I added some embroidery. All embroidery images are from various copies of Mollie Makes magazines.
At this stage the squares have all been stitched together and now I'll need to seek some advice about the edging and basic quilting. Thinking of making some mini-bunting flags to incorporate into the border.

A Year of Blogging!
To celebrate a year of blogging, sharing and making I had a few mates round to sew and created.
Linda arrived, out of breath, clutching a replica olympic torch (she'd made it for her son to wave as the torch came through Bristol the next day). It was a grand entrance. We hear that they are selling well on ebay...

Carrying on with the olympic theme, Zoe made flags for her children to wave out of an old pillow case.
A range of flowers and pom-poms were made; only one image was transferred onto a tote bag, as the printer was playing up! But mostly we chatted, laughed and drank wine. No wonky stitching!
It was a lovely evening, stitchers! Let's do it again soon...thank you x

Image transfer paper fun
I've always wanted to have a go at transferring images onto fabric, and now I know how easy it is, I wish I'd had a go years ago.
I bought a few sheets to try out from Vic at Paper Village in Bristol and had a brainwave one morning to use some images from my grannie's sewing box. The end result is a design in sweet needle cases using vintage tape ribbon, available from Flo-Jo's Boutique.
TIP - you will need to reverse the image either in something like photoshop or check the settings on your printer as some printers will reverse the image for you. Especially important if you have text or numbers on your image.
At a birthday party this weekend, we are going to set up a photo booth, include props etc and take pics of the party goers, transfer pics onto the image transfer paper and iron them onto plain canvas bags. Voila, personalised party bags! We've also got a selection of fabric pens to decorate the images.
Here's a sample I produced for my own use...I think the printer needs a clean!
I'll share any other adventures with FTP here in the future....have a go. It's easy and fun.

Mixed Media course - 1 Image transfer
First night last Wednesday at fab course at Paper Village in Bedminster, run by Vicky. It was all about image transfer using sticky tape, cling film and some transfer products.
The main tip is to use colour photocopies for the above techniques - I had colour print outs so effects were not so good. Note to self - get some colour copies made at work!
Here are some samples of things I made. As you can see I like the idea of laying the transferred image over text (the images were from my inspiration print outs) - but transferring your own work/collages/paintings/photographs, make this process exciting.
