Mixed media course 2 - Resin work

I've collected images, scraps and kept birthday and christmas cards just for this event! Tonight we created mini-collages, used paper cutters to create small and large discs to cover with resin....F.U.N. , as my daughter would say!

Vicky from Paper Village shared her top tips and guided us through the process. I've left my creations at the shop and will think about what to do with them when I can touch them. The resin creates bevelled domes over the images.

Here's what I made - I'm thinking jewellery, badges, brooches...endless! Personalised goodies...
Christmas cards are a good source of images

I like the Easter bunny scrap image & something
for the 'Geographer' too..

There had to be birds somewhere - this one is
from some wrapping paper

Mixed Media course - 1 Image transfer

First night last Wednesday at fab course at Paper Village in Bedminster, run by Vicky. It was all about image transfer using sticky tape, cling film and some transfer products.

The main tip is to use colour photocopies for the above techniques - I had colour print outs so effects were not so good. Note to self - get some colour copies made at work!

Here are some samples of things I made. As you can see I like the idea of laying the transferred image over text (the images were from my inspiration print outs) - but transferring your own work/collages/paintings/photographs, make this process exciting.

Craft club - Hockney inspired fabric creation

Suffolk puffs, a heap of gorgeous fabric from the scrap store & a bit of inspiration from my recent visit to the Hockney exhibition at The Royal Academy has prompted the collective project for the craft club.

I was wowed by this image and so were year 7 when I showed them.

Ours may be titled

THE ARRIVAL OF SPRING IN KINGSWOOD, BRISTOL IN 2012 (TWENTY TWELVE)

The beginnings....

Some fiddling with the composition

My job is to stitch the green background fabric together and do a bit of free-machining on it.

Watch this space as the project blooms!

An Oxo box

Look what a friend sent me in the post...so apt!

Facebook page for selling my goodies

I've taken the plunge and created a small-key business page for the things I make @ Alli-Tillcock-Handmade. You can 'Like' the page if you would like to follow me. Alli x

Inspiration from the V&A

I had the luck of visiting the V&A all on my own and felt very inspired. Here's a selection of images that inspired me. Sadly the textiles/fashion section was closed, but I found plenty to stimulate the eyes.

Don't forget to look up!

Size is not a problem

Cats encased in glass -
they can't kill birds in here

The jewellery section is like a cave;
dark, long and sparkly. I only got this
one shot before I was reminded not
to take any pictures in there.

A top venue for a cuppa...

Stuffing hearts at Craft club

Finished hearts. Proud pupils!

The crafters, who come to the club I run at work, have been busy stitching these wonderful hearts by hand and stuffing them with lavender. It's great to see their smiling and happy faces leaving with their finished projects. Watch this space for more creations.
