Mark Hearld - collage birds project

I love the work of Mark Hearld and wanted to use some of his ideas at work with Year 5 and 6. Here's a link to a video introducing all the aspects of Mr Hearld's work and his inspiration. Click on the image below to watch.

I love these birds and wanted to create them with pupils. I made a template, created some paper/ materials to collage with and my daughter and we set to work and experimented.

We made a range of painted papers.
You could use old books too, painted, 
aged or as they come.

We were inspired by Mark's birds and
were happy with the results.
